Soft Skills for Web Developers

92% of Tech Recruiters agree that soft skills are more important than hard skills. Join our course to experience the world of personal and professional development.

Week 1: Effective Communication

Good communicators know when to be brief, and when to go into detail. They understand the difference between formal and casual language, and when to use each. And perhaps most importantly of all, they know how to accept and learn from constructive criticism of their communication style.

Week 2: Self-Awareness

Self-awareness is the ability to see yourself clearly and objectively through reflection and introspection. Being a member of a team this skill is even more important.

Week 3: Time Management

When you have a lot to do, knowing how to manage your time is crucial. How much time do you spend planning? Actually coding?
Working with your team to come up with new ideas?
Managing your time efficiently allows you to focus on what’s most important and get tasks done more efficiently.

Week 4: Feedback - Ready to give it and receive it?

Giving and receiving feedback is critical to improving performance. Without communicating successes and ways performance can be improved it is very difficult to reach goals.

This is a two way process; whilst it is vitally important for a manager to regularly provide feedback to employees, it is equally important for employees to offer feedback to their manager and organisation

Week 5: Teamwork

Teamwork is as much about social skills as it is about support. While you aren’t expected to know the life story of each of your colleagues, it helps to know a little bit about each person you work with. Knowing what your colleagues do, and what their strengths and weaknesses are, can benefit you.

Week 6: Creativity

The best ideas and solutions often come to us when we approach things from a different, less obvious angle. This is what separates the most creative people — from programmers to entrepreneurs to authors — from everyone else.
Despite popular opinion, creativity can be learned, but it comes with practice.

Week 7: Perform under pressure

In programming, a lot of things change. New frameworks, libraries, technologies, and methodologies of working appear all the time. Almost every project has a different setup, and you have to adapt to new situations and new environments very quickly.

Week 8: Presentation Skills

From pitching a client to hire you for that “cool” project , pitching VCs to invest to your startup or just presenting to you team, presentation skills is an asset that you need to build.
